VECTOR OR RASTER ART?

1. Vector art is usually associated with Adobe illustrator.  In a vector file, each image consists of various shapes points and connecting lines. Vector art does not have size limitations as there is no distortion with enlargement which is what makes this type of file best for us to use. All fonts must be outlined or converted to curves. If this cannot be accomplished, then the font must be included with the art in True type format.
   

1. Raster is the file format usually associated with paint programs like Adobe Photoshop. Each image is made up of screen pixels (like the images you find on websites, digital camera photos, or scanned images). These pixels make the file huge and when you enlarge the file the pixels get larger and, unfortunately, easier to see. The proper PPI or DPI (pixels per inch or dots per inch) is required to prevent a jagged look in the final output.

WITH NO ART CREATION:

 

1. Vector art created to scale, 3x5’ image could be either 3x5” (1/12th scale) or 3.6x6” (1/10th scale), in .AI or .EPS Format.  Fonts converted to paths and PMS Chips (Pantone) matching specific colors.
   

1. Raster Art to size at 150 PPI/DPI (pixels per inch/dots per inch) or higher in either TIFF or Photoshop formats. JPEGS can be used, but due to file compression and image degradation, the quality of the finished goods will be greatly diminished. Raster files are printed as is, unless formatted as an RGB Indexed file with no more than 25 colors. Under this format, color changes can be made.

SCREEN PRINT

WITH NO ART CREATION:

1. Vector art created to scale, a 3x5’ image could be either 3x5” (1/12th scale) or 3.6x6” (1/10th scale), in .AI or .EPS Format.  Fonts converted to paths and PMS Chips matching specific colors. Raster Art cannot be used for this process, and all such files will be treated as Art Creation.

WITH NO ART CREATION:

1. Vector art created to scale, a 3x5’ image could be either 3x5” (1/12th scale) or 3.6x6” (1/10th scale), in .AI or .EPS Format.  Fonts converted to paths and PMS Chips matching specific colors.  Raster Art cannot be used for this process, and all such files will be treated as Art Creation.
   

FOR ART CREATION:

1. A clear image with colors marked accordingly is required. Art charges will be billed hourly.  We will try to match colors as closely as possible.  For specific colors, PMS numbers are required.
